Tire Question

Looking at new tires for my 05 F250. Size is 265/70/17E. Looking at either the Cooper Discoverer ATR or the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. Anyone have experience with either of these tires? My primary consideration is treadlife and winter traction. Dont do much off-roading. Use the truck to pull a 11K pound 5th Wheel camper in the summer and driving to work when the snow hits.

For what its worth .......

Consumer Reports included both of those tires, in your size, in their latest tests.

The Goodyear tire performed better in both of your areas .... treadlife and snow traction.

Good luck.

I have only had mine for 2-3 weeks. So I can't speak for the mileage. But I hope they do better than the other tires I've had in the past.

But I can speak for snow. We have had several snow storms since I put them on the truck. Mine are 275/70R18

At traffic lights I watch the trucks next to me as the pull away from the light. I don't seem to be slipping like they are. So far I'm very impressed with their snow traction.

The one complaint I hear repeatedly about the Goodyear Silent Armor is the tires seems "squishy" compared to stock tires. The sidewalls seem to give more, to the point where you can feel it in the handling of the truck.

I have the same truck and just put a set of Michelin LTX/A2's and have been very happy with them. Only bad part, I went up a size and it had a noteable effect on my gas mileage.

Keep this going.

I am going to have to buy new tires for my new truck next week and the only tires that i found that last more than 1 yr are discontinued Toyo M55.
Looking at these but have not had much luck with Goodyear (Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar)

I got the Wrangler Silent Armors in the OEM size 275-70/18E last year. So far they've been spectacular tires in all weather conditions including dry roads. I've only got about 8000 miles on them so far and they are wearing very well.
