this is the rear tank where the fuel lines are there ins a special tool to take them off if u look where the plastic line stops and the metal line starts there is like a U shaped keeper on there push the line in a little and pull it out then pull the line off.....
i dont know where u are getting a $10 plastic tool because this isnt a fuel rail AND they are the same exact tank from 1980 to 1996 if u pay 10 dollars for one of those tools u just wasted time and money

it was a rough estimate for a good quality one the cheapo ones are like 2 or 3 bucks and honestly it isnt as simple as pushing it in sometimes the little springs inside the tip of the lines sometimes requires the tool

These have little U-shaped clips that when you slide the fuel line on over the nipple crimp or whatever you put the U-clip into the 2 holes and it snaps into place. No special springs or anything. You can use one of those little flat head pocket screwdrivers to take it off if you wish. All you have to do is pop it up enough to get your fingers onto the clip and pull it off. Its really self explanatory.

And the plastic lines that Ford uses are just an amazing design. It takes a lot of the worry out of dropping a tank and watching that you dont kink or break rusted metal lines. You get a little more play the process.

Some say "dealer only".

Fragile little suckers, those. ;)

I've pulled three '90/'91 tanks so far and broke something each time.
Knowing full well too! :)

Try unclipping the lines from the crossmember and frame rail first, it will give you a little slack to drop the rear tank and get the lines off.

The U clips are easy to get they are in the "HELP!" section.
BTW, black and white are for different sizes. ;)

BTDT and still broke the vent or whatever the little sucker is. :/
"little" is the key word there. ;)

Hmmm... seems like I got one all the way out before snagging
the hose on something, so broke it while it was out already.

Some of them have two hoses going to the vent-thing.

The vent-thing is super fragile and read here they ain't cheap.
Got any sources besides the stealership? :)

Hmmm,
You're talking about the rollover check valve in the center of the tank?
I replaced that grommet when I replaced my tank, and recall the parts guy asking.

Give me a minute, I'll try and find one.
