Some of the body panels at least. I got dern near all the body off our old Nor Cal project, "Thumper". Mike helped with the bed using his tractor. I did the rest using an engine hoist, which made it all possible. I only have 1 picture of it right after I got it all on. I'll take more tomorrow. The seat was the nice addition, where I seemed to have grown 2" taller from it. I also noticed the doors had better insulation than my 67's doors, so it's a little quieter inside. That, plus the tail pipes Mike gave me earlier this year make it more bearable over 40mph. Over the course of the past few months I was given a stereo and speakers, so I bought the dash adapter, and put that in last weekend. If this rig had good brakes, and air conditioning....and maybe better than the 11mpg, I'd be really reallly happy with it. I was going to do a Cummins 4BT swap, but decided on another (cheaper)engine. That's still a few months away, and another thread itself.
Now....Talking with JoeF350 last night, he offered to trade me trucks. Hmmmmm! I like the idea of a krew kab, but lifting stuff into a bed that high has my back aching just thinkin about it. The same 6.6 litre Ford engine I was thinking of for my 67 would be even better in his.
Yep, it's an inline 6 diesel. 6.6 litres, or 401 cubes. Made by New Holland to go in the F6-800 from 86-93. Hard to argue with $500. True, a 460 would also be fun, and many owners get 13mpg with em.
race against who, and what? You mean, the way it is now or after it's got the proper engine?
Here's another pic of when I was moving. Had around 1600 pounds in the bed.
