1977 F250 Highboy

I think I found a 77 highboy in my area on the web today. its trim is ranger and im sure its a highboy. it has that crossbar right underneath the front bumper and it sits high. it looks higher than my 79 f250 and its got a 2.5 inch lift. It has a 390 fe with a np435(4speed). now i dont know about the transfer-case but if its a true highboy ive heard it has to be a divorced X-case. body looks in good shape and good tires. The guy states it runs good. he's asking $1500 Obo (Canadian). and i believe he doesn't realize its a highboy. is the truck worth this much or should i try and get it for $1000.

Without pictures nobody can tell you what it's worth. Also what might only be worth 1K to you could be worth more to someone else. It all depends on what you want to spend. All highboys did have a divorced case as well.

It's definitely a highboy, the fact it has an FE (more likely a 360 unless a 390 was swapped in), has the wide windshield chrome and clear parking lights tells me it's a '76 and not a '77.

E-mailed him today offered 1000. I'll have to wait a see his reply. I've always wanted a high-boy and if its a 390 its got my favorite engine.
And another guy on this forum stated 390 did come in the highboys. so ill find out if i get the vin and casting number.

Ford never put a 390 in any 4x4, it's a popular swap but definitely not factory.

Ok, well when I go to look at it I'll put a wooden dowel down the sparkplug hole. I think a 390 has a 1/4 inch longer stroke than a 360.
Ill measure the stroke from TDC to the bottom of the stroke
3.5" will tell you it has a 360 stroke and 3 3/4" will tell you it has a 390 stroke !!
The guy could be pulling a fast one as there impossible to tell otherwise.
I bet alot of guys do it. Or he did swap one in. I'll keep you guys informed.

If it is a 360 ill just put in my 390 crank, rods ,and pistons(aluminum .030 overbore). from my last 390(R.I.P.) that wore out after fuel pump went, also had cracked main saddle. Engine shop said the rotating assembly was fine
Will put on my holley street dominator intake and 750 cfm carb, dynomax headers, pertronix ign and a new cam(old one got ate up when she went)

I'm not dis-agreeing with you. But, My 76 has the in cab fuel tank as well as what you stated.. Doesn't matter though, for 1k the man can't go wrong for a running highboy in that good shape.
