1986 F350

Hi Fellas! New user here...long time lurker.

I'm going to look at an F350 crew cab dually 4X4 460 4speed this weekend that I ran across on craigslist. $2,500

Is there anything in particular you guys can recommend that I should look for?

As to why I'm looking, no, I don't NEED a truck this big, it's just that I've always wanted one, and now I'm in a position I can afford it. Yeah, I know it's gonna be thirsty.

Thanks,

Joe

Welcome to FTE, sounds like a pretty cool truck.Like any vehicle check for oil on the pan or tranny underneath the truck to see if there's anything leaking.

I'd also check the fluids to see how they look, also listen for any strange noises such as a ping.

If you take is for a test ride see if the brakes are smooth when applied or pulsate. If they pulsate you'll be tossing a set of rotors and pads on at a minimum.

Just a few basics to look out for.

they made them, there were tons of them up here in the oil patch when i started working there.the 80's model you don't see any more as they were beaten into the ground but there are a few of the 90's still floating around, maybe it was a Canadian only thing like the old mercury trucks.LOL.

You know, I had one other fella tell me that too. Then another fella told me that wasn't true, they made TONS of 'em. ( I know we do now, I work at the Superduty plant in Louisville KY)

The present owner says it's factory...I am kinda deep down hoping it's not. I'd like to take all that crap off. I like the looks of a SRW crew cab 4x4 better anyway, plus there's 2 less tires to buy.

If it isn't factory, I'm hoping to put all that conversion stuff on CL and recoup some of my money.....even get rid of that horrendous racerback and that sunvisor or moonvisor (whatever they call it), and even the "removeable Gooseneck hitch" I don't need that thing anyway.

Going up to have a look/test drive Saturday. Keep yer fingers crossed!

I can tell you they made one atleast I have one. Look in my gallery. It started out a dually but is now a short bed SRW. As for the 4x4 part it is original I have all the paper work to back it up. Even behind the sun visor it gives you directions on putting it in 4 wheel drive.
