96 f150 300 4x4 5 speed.
does anyone know what the life span on a slave cylinder should be? i just replaced mine 1 year ago and it is out again.

 

Should last longer than that. Did you remove the rubber cup(diaphram) from under the cap on the master cylinder and add brake fluid? Did you use a genuine Ford slave cylinder?

 

Ford has redesigned them so hopefully they'll last longer. My last one (old style from Ford) lasted about 110K miles/5 years. But I've seen them go out much sooner.

 

Yes when i bled it i removed the rubber piece to add fluid, i also about 3 months ago replaced the master cylinder also. no i didnt use an original ford part. i bought it from autozone. that may be the problem, cheap parts. this time i will buy it from the dealer.
