XL to XLT lights

Yes, we have the old school rectangular sealed beam headlights which come on the XL models. I want to change to the XLT style lights with the replaceable bulbs that offer a better light pattern, and also a more refreshed look. Do I just need the housings and bulbs, or is there any wiring/fabricating needed. Thanks.

you'll need to change the pigtail aswell, as the plugin at the lamp itself is different from the basic XL sealed beam lamp to the aero-lamps of the higher trim line trucks...
the housings have the same connections from the wiring harness, but have different internal connections.

Looks like he has an '02 FWIW.
And FWIW also (not much!) the aero-lamps are avail on the XL models now-a-days, I dont know about previous gens but now you dont have to get the xlt or higher to get em, its called the XL decor group.

If your getting the flush lights off of a donor truck, make sure you get the up/down, left/right adjusters also.
I just did the opposite, I swapped out my flush lights for the XL style sealed beams.(my old ones were yellow/clouded, and full of moisture.)
I Ended up spending $40+ at the stealership buying the adjusters and the springs for the sealed beams.....If I didn't break my flush light adjusters, I would have sent them to you.

Crazy I seen plenty of them around. Back when they were new I actually liked the look of the sealed beams on the first gen... I thought if they would have just finished it off with one piece of curved glass in front it would be perfect. Until the 05-07 came out then I liked the aero ones a lot better. Even the 08-10 I like the sealed beam look on certain trucks, like all black ones. Only thing is though thier light output kinda sucks!

I love the look of the black on my grey truck, but really need more light. I just ordered fog lights...should be here next week. Will probably find some H/O sealed beams to replace the factory lights.
If I ever do go with the aeros, I've pretty much decided that I'll open them up and put a coat of black over the chrome

You and I think alike. Ever since I saw an all black harley edition 08 I have wanted the harley lights since they have black painted housing instead of chrome. I have heard some heat up their lights and take em apart but I havent heard anyone do that with the 08 & up yet so I didnt want to try... but that would be way cheaper than harley lights. I think I have seen knock off harley lights on ebay, not sure if I saw 08-10 ones yet though. But ever since everyone started accepting paypal only I stopped using ebay. I will not use or support paypal. So tell me more about DIY...
