78 F350 How Much Weight Can The Chassis Carry Safely?

Did a search but could find an accurate number.

I have a 1 ton f350, how much weight can be loaded safely on the rear without needing to upgrade the suspension and axle?

Thanks

Ok i answered my own question.

The curb weight of the truck is on the title= 4551 pounds

The GWVR is 10,000 pounds according to the data plate

4551-10,000= 5449 pounds Gross carrying capacity,

5449 pounds - 225 lbs (weight of driver)= 5224 pounds

5224 pounds - 304 ( weight of 38 gallons fuel rear high capacity tank @ 8 lbs per gallon) = 4920 pounds that can safely be carried in the bed.

Provided the tires, bearings, suspension and axle are rated for this and are in good condition.

Hope this helps others.
