lowering a 78?

Whats a good way to lower a 78 f-150? i dont want the darn thing laying frame and i also dont wana spend alot of money for like one or two inches... 3 or 4 inches of drop sounds good to me. I wana get some toruqe thrusts or craiger wheels on there not sure of size yet though. but i will not go with those big huge *** chromie homie "G" mobile wheels that blind pilots when there flying...

So any help is apreciated. not sure if it matters but it is a long bed truck with a strait 6 300. also i would like some rake on the body were the front is lower then the rear..

The safe way to do it is with a kit from DJM. It gives you about three inches front and back. The front consists of new I beams. The back is a new leaf spring bracket that repositions the bracket to lower the rear. If you search DJM or lowering kits, you should find several threads. I have posted several picks of my yellow 76 stepside that was lowered with this kit. I have 17" cragar wheels on mine (not the typical caragar). One set is posted in the thread Post a picture of your 2wd.

Good luck. If I can do the swap, anyone can.

Here's how you do it cheap:

Lengthen the rear shackle (or buy drop shackles), flip the rear hangers, correct the pinion angle, then cut a few coils off a progressive set of front springs, and cold bend the front beams.

I can't speak for the Chasis tech kit. My experience is with the DJM Kit. I can also tell you DJM's Customer/Tech Support was wonderful. Before buying, you may want to contact Chasis Tecch and see if they have installation instructions and see if you can find any threads from peple who have installed them.

If that is what you are looking for, you are going to need alot more than 3". My be is that it is around 7-8" in the front.

Here is a pic of my 76. That's a 3 " drop with a set of 17 inch wheels.

Looks good man do you have a larger picture? From what i can tell the front end is about were i want mine at. So Im thinking a 3" or 4" drop in the front With 17" wheels.

And for the rear i havent figured out yet but i would like the rake thats on the picture i posted what do you think that would be drop wise on that pic 3''?

I don't know if this is helpful or not. Just from a different side, and actually the photo is more level.

Yeah were the front end sits is how i would like it mabey down a little more. But i really would like the stance like the one i posted here. Think if i lower the front 3 or 4 inches and leave the rear stock i could get it like that or should i got 5 or 4 in the front and 3 or 4 in the rear?
