For electronics use 60/40 with rosin core, keeps you from having to use rosin flux which creates a clean solder joint. Acid core solder is used for electrical or copper pipes. All the core does is allow you to solder without having to supply flux. After soldering you can clean it up using a alcohol and a cotton swab.
There is rosin core and acid core as noted. There is also solid core, but it is not silver. (except in color) Silver solder is not used for wireing. It is actually silver and is one step below welding.
