I put bilsteins on my 2000 f250. Been very pleased with them. Huge improvement over the OEM shocks.

Now, I'm no expert or critic about these things but I bought Monroe Reflex and they perform good for me. Just under $50. each from shockwarehouse.com and easy to install on stock suspension.

After 140,000 miles on my original shocks I decided to replace them with Gabriel MAXcontrol shocks. They made a world of difference and smooth out the ride. They aren't as expensive as Rancho's or other top of the line shocks, but if you are working with a small budget these are a great way to go.

No, i am doing the research though. what can you tell me? I can say that I am rarely off highway and when I am it is just to pull my trailer to the flat sand and unload my toys.

It's a very cool technology. Works on or off road. Limits sway, soaks up small bumps and holes but stiff over larger obstacles. Makes the truck feel more civilized but can actually improve performance too. Check that link, I think that they have a page about the technology.

IAS stands for "inertia activated shock." Press slowly and it remains stiff. But sharp impacts open a small port so it responds quickly and deflects smoothly over smaller bumps.

I bought the Edelbrock IAS shocks for a different pickup. They handled very well. At first I was very impressed. But all 4 leaked oil. The Edelbrock company went all out to correct the problem. I called them and they sent out new ones that day. They charged my credit card for them but refunded the full amount when they got the bad shocks. Great customer service. I sold that truck so I don't know how they held up.
The bilsteins have worked great for two years so far.

I just placed my order for the Edelbrock Performers, I am really looking forward to getting them on my truck. Since I have 232,000 miles on the truck and at least 100,000 on the current shocks I am certain the ride will be night and day.

Welcome to FTE!

Are the "Performers" IAS shocks?

Anyway, post back and let us know how they are.
