O.T. 1947 Ford Sedan

Going to look at a 1947 Ford Sedan. $400.00. Has a locked up flatty 8. I have a good 390. Does anyone know if the 390 will fit in engine bay? Any place make a swap kit? Last. Is there a forum like this one for the old Ford cars? Thanks.

Anything will fit anywhere, it all depends on how much work you want to do, to make it fit. The 47 Ford sedan engine compartment is a little smaller than an F-1's, but FE's have been installed in them before. But be prepared to get out the big shoe horn. Here's a pic of a SBC in one, and it has a little room left over. A search for a pic of an FE epuipped example didn't prove fruitful.

Woodsmoke-
I have installed a 5.4 Lightning in my 47 convertible and it is a wide engine. I don't know if the FE is bigger than the mod motors though. You might ask the question on FordBarn.com

There are excellent forums for FLATHEAD powered old Fords. As soon as you slam an FE in it, you will only be welcome in the rat rod /street rod forums.
