Thinking about making my own engine stand

I am thinking about making my own engine stand out of some drill pipe that we have laying around. Anybody got any ideals? What the dimensions are between the holes on the Engine Stand Plate where the Engine gets bolted into? I am guessing the Dimensions are Universal because then they would have to make a Engine Stand for each type of Engine. I need it for my 6.9 but I want to be able to put any engine on it. I really want it to be overkill.

Dry weight just means no fluids. Google 6.9 or 7.3 engine weight.

Ok now this is going to be a goofy question.
Where do es the 7.3 gain 60 pounds when there is actually less meat on the block it wouldn't amount to much, but less never the less.

Hang either engine on a stand rated at 1000 pounds and you better be careful how you touch it.

Notice 2" square tubing.
You should have seen the bow in the upright at the back.

Notice 5 lug spindle bolt and hub so the engine could be rotated.

If I build another one, it will have a heavier upright and the base will be wider and have four corners.
The T base is just to unstable when the engine is on it when you are for example torquing heads down.

As for the weight, the 7.3 turbo complete drop in engine had a 1200 pound shipping weight, with oil in the engine.
The shipping pallet it was bolted to was under 100 pounds.

Build it heavy, you want a very stable platform to work on, you need to be able to rotate the engine and there is no reason to take shortcuts which could wind up with a damaged engine or person because the stand folded when you were torquing the heads or rolling it over.
