Do you release your E-Brake without having your foot on it? Because I have been doing it since..well forever. But what I have not noticed is that it releases with so much force it actually causes numbers to turn on my odometer!!

I usually try to slow down the pedal with my foot as I release the parking brake, yes. I probably learned the habit from my dad who always does it too.

I don't, and after replacing my windshield wiper governor twice I left off the mounting bracket that had attached it near the E brake.
Perhaps I should start.

That is the case of my old '78.

I release the parking brake with my foot on the pedal. If I don't, it jars the dash violently. That can't be good.

I always use my foot to slowly release the pedal. I never really thought about it until reading about it here a few years ago and then realized how hard it is on things.

in my 97 ranger, yes foot on the pedal, but thats due to i dont have the release handle, only the rod left so i have to push the e brake a little farther to release the tension. just been too lazy to find a new handle and replace it lol

I always release the brake with my foot on the pedal. I don't like it flying up and slamming so hard.

What TexasGuy001 said. Plus, my rubber pedal cover flew off a few years ago when I wasn't using my foot to slow the rise of the pedal. That really P.O.ed me!

Years ago, on my '89, I released the E-brake and the truck died. It hit so hard, it tripped the inertia switch for the fuel pumps.
