Had a brain storm, most of ford's new concept's car's (cobra car and the coupe) have a 6.4l V-10, could the the 6.2 be a small block v-10? Just a thought.

If the 6.4l V10 ever makes it into production it will be a low production kind of thing, for cars like Shelby.

 

Not to mention expensive!

 

I read in Automotive magazine I believe, GM was developing two V-10's One odd fire and one even fire. One to go in trucks , the other in cars, again I could have been dreaming all this up.
Just me wishing Ford had a bad *** V-10, to get the competion scrambling. The new mustang, The new F150.

 

GM is building a V-10 for the trucks and is dropping the big block for it, so no more big block for GM.

The reason Chevy may be switching to a v10 is most likely because of emissions. In order to deal with today's tough emissions standards, car manufacturers are switching to a small bore, long stroke design, so the only way to get lots of cubes is to add cylinders. The 8.1L is just having to be detuned too much to where it's losing any advantage that it's size would gain.

 

My good man Chevyracing is online I see. Hi guy. My thoughts are that the 6.2 will be a V-8. Havent heard anymore about that engine since the initial announcment. Ford does have a badass V-10 but its in the HDs. Darn hemi crap. One reason were upping the power in half tons. No doubt GM is building the V-10 to counteract Fords new 3V-V-10.

Yeh its exciting isnt. What kind off trucks will have in fifty years. I dont know if Ill be alive at that time. Exciting though.

 

I hope to God that you are wrong about that, and I have a feeling that you are. I absolutely, positively HATE V-10s. I don't care about how they perform or what mileage they get, I just hate them. Dodge did the right thing in getting rid of that snow flake. Now, Ford should do the same.

 

What the V-10 is a great performer. Fords V-10 gets pretty descent mileage really. I think Ford did it right. The 6.0 is too small. The 8.1 is to big and a gas guzzler. Doesnt surprise me GMs going to a V-10. Fords been way ahead off the game for years. Fords new 3v-V-10 GMs got to do something there falling behind again.

 

I have a feeling that the new "Hurricane" is going to be Fords "HEMI". I can't wait to see how the tables will turn.

 

I did not say that the V-10 was not a great performer, or that it made bag mileage. I simply stated that I HHHHAAAATTTTTTEEEE any V-10 ever made. No logical reason, I just plain hate V-10s.

GM does the right thing with their gas motors. The 6.0 makes better mileage than the Ford V-10 and it is still large enough to pull all but ther heaviest loads, unlike the 5.4 V-8, which is a bit lacking in power. The 496 big block is the motor for heavy pulling when someone doesn't want a diesel. It is the only big block V-8 in a pickup, And I think that it is pretty cool. Anyway, in every test that I ever saw, it made as good of gas mileage as the Ford V-10. Right now the V-10 has a little more power, but just wait a year or two.
