Morning Jason, Todd, Chris. Cold her this morning, I don't think the 12-13 inches we have is going anywhere soon!
Chris, I'm sorry about your dog, bud. I know how tough that is, had to put one of ours to sleep a few years ago, that was one of the worst days of my life.
Thanks Pat. It is tough for sure. She was with us for 12 years. My last rotty I had for 10 1/2 years. I would like to have one that dies of old age (in it's sleep) and not some other medical issue.
Morning Joe. Chris, is that what happened, a medical problem?
Ya pretty much. From what my wife told me the dog was squatting to do her thing and there was a deer in the yard. I guess it got spooked and took off towards the fence and crashed into the dog.
We took her to the vet. After some xrays and a bunch of money the vet figured she would be ok, just some major brusing. After having her home she perked up and seemed back to her old self, but still didn't want to move. Turns out there was some internal stuff that was damaged.
A cow moose missed my old dog by no more then 6" one day, but the moose was intentionaly gunning for the dog. She had lots of escape routes, no caf to protect, and the dog was just walking 30 yards away from her
I know your pain Chris, as we have had to put a few pets down over the last few years.
Most times it is a case of the deer going after the dog. We have a lot of them in town. Many of them have little ones and they can get pretty aggressive. Having an apple tree in the yard does not help any either. I think some time before spring the tree will be coming down.
