expidition air suspension

I have a 2000 4x4 expedition with factory front and rear air suspension. this past weekend the comperssor was going on and off more than it should then my check susp light came on. it has still been doing it every time i drive but the light never came back on. does this mean i have a leak? if so should i repair the factory susp or do the cpring conversion.

thanks for any advice

Having done the spring conversion on my Navigator I would not recommend this to anyone, once we did the change over the truck started breaking the belts within the tires I went through several sets of tires before we scrapped the conversion and went a completely different direction

Was your wife's two wheel drive or four wheel drive? If it is a four wheel drive, how was the suspension and ride height and where did you purchase yours from?

There is NO WAY that going from the LLS to a spring convresion will make the belts in the tires break. That is from cheap poorly built tires, wrong load rating of the tire for the vehicle, over/under inflation, or hitting things too hard (IE: potholes, train tracks, curbs, etc.) The conversion wont affect your tires at all, it just takes the airbags and replaces them with springs. So how could this possibly affect the belts in tires??

Thanks for all the info. I was wondering how a conversion could effect your tires. Do any of ya'll have same body style as me that is 4x4 with the coil sping susp? if so how does the back end do when hauling heavy load? is ther alot of sag. i haul a open car trailer & show truck during the summer & it's been nice having the load leveler.

Hers is a four wheel drive. I didn't notice any difference in the ride height. The ones we got were from Suncore industries Suspension, Air Suspension, Parts, Conversion, Kits, Air Ride, Airbags, Shocks, Coils, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, Hummer, Range Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Toyota, AirLift - Suncore Industries. You'll want to make sure you do a front end alinement after doing the conversion.

If you're going to do the work yourself you'll want to get something to compress the springs for the front ones otherwise they're a real bugger to get in. Something such as this. - Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

I just got a 10% off coupon from Suncore, if you PM me with your e-mail address I'll send it to you so you can save a little money.
