Thinking really hard about OBX LT setup off ebay
Pretty much what the title says. Looks pretty good, SS has bungs for O2 setup. Would just dump it back into a single exhaust and run it to my Cat back.
Im thinking my truck needs this as im running the 4.6l manifolds on my 5.4l and the manifold design on the 4.6l appears to be way worse than the 5.4l stock for stock.
Im thinking this will help my engine more than the average case. I have nothing to back this of course, but with a S/C in the works, its got to be a step in the right direction.
Anybody bought these? Im having a tough time finding a dyno sheet on them on the net. Some sort of speculated gain.
Anyways Lets here your thoughts.

I don't personally have the OBX headers ,but on the L and Harley sites there is a lot of guys going with them. The price is just so good.
From what they say there made good and fit good. No problems.
As for power,
on your N/A motor you should see somewhere between 20 to 30 HP increase!
I have seen a dyno graph on another site of 30HP and 35 torque on a stock 5.4 with long tube headers and high flow cats.

I know for the price, and you get the y pipe and all the crap that makes putting LT on your truck a pain is all there.
Man that sounds good. Other than emissions, will there be any problem with not running cats on the setup?
Also what about not running true duals. Just duals to single and back to duals at the muffler?
I knew they would have to make good power because the stock manifolds (esp the 4.6l) provide no Scavenge effect which helps threw out the rev range.

You can run it into you cat-back like it is,,,,might make a little bit more power with true duals but not much.

We dont have emissions here in iowa, so im not to worried about that. (plus its off road only truck) hehe
I like the simplicity of using my current cat back, and i think the gain is mostly from the scavenge effect anyways and after it gets back there a few feet into the main collectors, it wont have a lot of issue as long as theres enough diameter to not restirict flow.
Or at least im going to tell myself that so i dont try to do a true dual setup. Haha.
Theres several sets on there, some with y pipes to. The one Phil showed is more for a true dual setup. Theres a couple on ebay that has a y pipe for stock exhaust.

Thats is false, you truck will produce more power and get better fuel economy with cats that without. The cats increase exhaust scavenging. Another thing to consider is the cats also increase the resale value, which is important if you don't intend to drive it till it dies.
You will get a CEL with no cats.

Do you even know what exhaust scavenge is? its not back pressure.
And yes i will never sell this truck. I will buy others, but this is a toy i wont part ways with.
Im still leaning towards getting the cat version of the system, just didnt know how practical it was since they where so small compared to the OEM ones.

But ,you can run 1 high-flow cat on each side and put the 02 censer after the cat.You should not get a light this way.
Or you can run no cats and eliminate the back 2- 02 sensors and have them turned off in your tune.
I run Bassani high flow cats and there very small! Look a lot like the OBX's
