All name brand oils pass API standards, however when I went to a technical college for engine building the one oil all the instructors said was crap was Quaker state. I use Valvoline and it has always done me well. The school I went to years back had us run different brand oil filters. The one that picked up the least debrit was Fram, and the one with the most was Volvoline (NAPA at that time was made by Valvoline and were cheaper). We new how much debrit was picked up and the condition of the oil becuase we cross cut and compared the filters from our own vehicles and did send out the oil for analysis. Just my opinion. Not trying to start an oil war either. The OCI is most important. I agree with that.

Sorry to hodges710.. I didnt read your post cause this one was so long. Was really agreeing with you on the API thing and didnt even realise it till I re read what I wrote. Was responding to earlier posts.
