Just the stupid things idling was them complaining. They sound like they're about to send a rod (or two) through the block. It's been years, but there was a dinner train operation near here that had a Detroit to spin the generator/alternator in the power car. Even in it's own car, with the doors closed you could still hear that stupid thing for what seemed like forever. I can't even imagine having to go into that car (the extra freezers were in there) when the thing was running at full power.

I used to know about log wagons, skate boards and especially Tonka haulers. Then I lost my mind and went railroading

And a little swapping inspiration.
Look right around the 4 min mark, that thing must have between a 6-8" body lift.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I was googling stuff and thought I was on another thread in the 73-79 subsection. I don't seem to have the ability to delete my post.

That's what I saw too. About a 6" body lift, and 2 wheel drive. Still, it looks good overall. A few years back I saw a DT466 in an F350 the same way, but it had 9 inches of body lift. I had about 6 pix of it.

If I ever do a diesel transplant, it would be with a Detroit, love the sound and they pull great. I run a 8V92 in my old Big Bud tractor and it is a great engine. Good luck.

Did anything ever come of this build? I am in the market for a 6V53T myself right now. I don't have a vehicle to put it in yet, but I'm looking to pick up an engine just to tinker with for the time being until I find the proper vehicle to drop it into.

Also, I prefer a manual transmission. Any info on what kind of manual transmissions fit behind this motor?
