Oil Change Bucket

Oil Change Bucket
What is everyone using to drain their oil into? I have a 01 F250 with the 7.3 auto. But it is a 2 WD so it sits lower to the ground. A regular 5 gallon plastic bucket will not fit under the oil pan. Trying to switch containers during the draining process makes a huge mess. Is there a special low sided container made that can hold up to 15 quarts of oil?

I drain my oil directly into my old waste oil and washer jugs. I just plug a short piece of hose on the drain spout of the Fomoto valve and fill one jug at a time, opening and closing the valve as needed. Absolutely no mess at all.

How about not using a drain bucket at all. Have you heard of a Fomoto drain valve? I use one on my 6.0, but they also make them for the 7.3.

I don't know. I've never seen them advertised for gas engines. But I'd check to see if the drain plug for the 6.0 and the 6.8 are the same size. The Fomoto valve just replaces the drain plug on the oil pan. Now that I've done oil changes this way, I wouldn't go back to a plug. It was the first mod I did to this truck. A lot of bang for 30 bucks.

With the setup I have, having room for all the oil is though. It took 17 quarts to fill it up when I installed the extra systems.
