Instrument Cluster '89 Econoline

Hi-I just picked up an E 350 Econoline Cutaway van with a 460 engine. It's been worked pretty hard, but all in all it's not too bad. A couple of things that don't work on it are the two bottom gauges in the instrument cluster, the fuel gauge and the temperature gauge. I figured that since both are not functioning it might have something to do with the cluster itself. Any suggestions? Is it a major project to just change out the instrument cluster, or should I be looking at other possible solutions? Given the general thirst of the beast under the hood, it would be nice to know when it's getting time to visit the gas pump, and obviously the tempertature gauge is pretty important too.

Thanks for any help or advice you might be able to offer.

check the wiring ,and the sending unit for the fuel ,also check the sender for the temp. Its rare for those gauges to go bad. Mush

Check for the ground at the gas tank sender unit. The temp. sender connection on the engine might just be knocked off.
