Monitor from phone?

Monitor from phone?
I have a question, one time when they were trying to diagnose my truck, they hooked a PDA up to my truck. So, in my random "what would I like" thoughts, I wondered if you can hook the truck to up a phone, such as an iphone or my Droid to monitor this stuff. So I don't have to spend another $250 on a monitor such as the Bullydog or Edge. I have the EGT and Trans temp gauge, but it would be nice to have EOT and ECT, both of which were monitored with the PDA.
So, any thoughts?

Exactly. But there are a ton of cables made that interface, just need a micro USB end on it. I have already dumped about 2,000 into this truck, tired of spending money. LOL and yeah I know, that is nothing compared to a lot of people and u gotta pay to play.

And yeah I knew bout exhaust and programmer and roughly bout egr. I did not know bout retarded dealerships, clogged radiator, 100 fee every time they touch truck, blown egr cooler / oil cooler, flash updates repeatedly and on and on. LOL trying to end all that.

nothing wrong with tring to save some money at all. but just havong a code reader will not get you far. the best thing you can do is find someone with alot of knowledge and can fix one that will save a bunch of money in misdiag alone.
I have not played with anyone elses interface but ford's and they are the only ones with the pda that I know of that work well.

At this moment, the only code reader I own / have access to is a $50 unit.
It lets me read the basic codes, and more importantly, reset / erase codes.
Don't underestimate the utility of stone axes and bone knives when the alternative is bare hands and teeth.

As far as capability both with code reading and beyond, AutoEnginuity has it hands down. Now I don't know the extent of their PDA version coverage, but they do have a version out there that will either use serial port or bluetooth for the mongoose.
DashDAQ would be next and the other three fall into the crappy coverage arena. Although to be far the X3 would probably be the 3rd best, but it's a far distant 3rd.
