you know you drive an Excursion when.....

Sort of like how many of the Lexuses (Lexi?) are just overdressed Toyotas, and Infinitis are largely overdressed Nissans. And really, Lincolns are just overdressed Fords. I guess that's one reason why I have respect for BMW and Mercedes Benz, their cars are truly unique to themselves only. Even Porsche stepped down a bit in my book when they started rebadging the Touareg/Q7 as a Cayenne. Even with the Cayenne Turbo S, which is a beast, it's still just a Volkswagen.

Hahahaha, I've recently lived in Texas (just north of Fort Worth) so I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Except, from my perspective, it was mostly the trucks that were the worst. Those guys that buy the "Official Truck of Texas" and immediately throw a 4" lift, straight pipes, and "Cowboy Up" stickers all over their brand new leased trucks. Nothing like moving along at 75 MPH and almost getting run over by a Ram 1500 who wants to go 110, who then shoots you the finger with his non-cell-phone hand as he flies around you on the shoulder.
As a new Excursion driver, I'm surprised at how nimble my Ex is. It corners surprisingly smoothly for something that's basically an enclosed, heavy F-250.
As for the Quattro drivers, they just fail to realize that their cars are basically Jettas or Passats that they overpaid for LOL.

Went through my first drive through in my Ex this weekend on my way back home from Mount Rainier. The teller asked me to turn off my truck, because it is "too loud for the microphone" (unmodded truck).
By the way, there was nothing like my first high altitude (relatively speaking) trip in my diesel. I swear, the damn thing pulled its way almost halfway up Mount Rainier (up to almost 7,000 feet to the Sunrise park) without downshifting once. And on the way down, I didn't need to touch my brakes or my gas much, maintained 35 MPH with just my transmission and a little engine braking, and enjoyed the views the whole way.
