I've mounted my share of these units. I normally hide them behind the rear seat. These are made to stay semi cool and most have fans in them. I have one in my current 06 F250 behind the seat. You can still use your upfitter switches, just run the power thru a large relay (I use 75 amp depending on the size of the inverter). The good thing about this is when you shut off the truck it goes off. Lastly you can use a cheap extention cord, or on a few I have actually mounted a single outlet on a console then ran the power cable back to the inverter.
