What is stock height...

Hello

I'm planning to replace my front leafsprings and lower it 1 or 2 inch.
Problem is; what is the stock height for a 1956 V8 pickup with 118 inch wheelbase?
According to a drawing on mid fifty's website it is already 3 inch lower??
So i'm getting a bit confused.
Does anybody know the measurement between front wheel center en top of front bumper, with engine installed? Same question for the rear.

I am new to these trucks. But I suspect that since they've been around for so long that many of them are not really stock anymore. Over the years parts get changed, possibly from different years, which could change the ride height. I am pretty sure that is the case with my truck at least.

Furthermore, I beleive leaf springs are prone to sag over time, which would also change the ride height. Where it sat when it left the factory is unlikely to be where it sits today, even with all the same parts.

So buying new springs is sort of a crap shoot, as to how they will change your ride height.

That's my opinion on what I've learned so far.

Springs will sag eventually - I had a 1978 firebird trans am before my truck, and when I changed out the rear leaf springs the rear came up by a good 2 inches. Same on the front - new coil springs and it came back to proper ride height.

AXracer has a good reputation on FTE. AXracer has a good reputation on FTE.
118" wheelbase means it is an F100 with the optional 8' bed, or is an F250 or larger. Stock wheelbase for a 53-56 shortbed F100 is 110". The longer wheelbase may make the truck sit a little differently.

My vin says F10V6R... what meens F100, 272 V8, 1956, Richmond.
Also it says 118 wheelbase and color, axle and transmission.
Everything matches the vin. And the truck has some extra rear leafspings under the framerails, I was told these are a heavy duty leafsprings for extra load.

I had to research this myself. The Mid-fifty catalog states the original stock height to be 21" from the ground to the top of the front bumper for 53-56 f100's.
