Close call on wife' anniversary

Today is my Wife's 35 th wedding anniversary. It being a very nice day out we decided to go for a ride in the 56.We got about 2 miles from home and the fan decided to go through the radiator.Coolant got on the road and the truck went into a spin.I was side ways back and forth across the road barely misssing an on coming car and the nearly side swiping a guard rail.I finally got the truck under control and pulled the truck over to thr side of the road.We were really lucky with no damage but it took me a while to get the wife settled down.I got the radiator out and found that the fan bolts had backed out and let the fan flex enough to hit the radiator.Everything is ok now and we will be going out to dinner and a show later.

That's bad all around, glad you weren't hurt! Did the fan lock up the engine? You must have a hell of a belt on it!

Strange how things happen, and when they happen. Yesterday I was running some errands, waiting at a stop light. The cross traffic got the green light and as it was proceeding across a guy that just crossed the intersection slammed on his brakes and came to a screeching halt. My wife and I both wondered what the heck was the matter with the guy then we realized his front left wheel toed in, something must have broke in his front end. The guy was lucky, the road he was on is a major street with a 45 mph speed limit but most do 55+. He could have been in the thick of it when the part let go.

I also think about this when I read a story about an accident when someone careens across a highway and slams into someone going the other way. Maybe if one of those guys wouldn't, or would have, taken an extra cup of coffee in the morning. I guess when your number is up it's up. Wayne, I guess your number wasn't up yet. Good to hear nothing major happened and no one got hurt.

Wayne, glad you and Rosa are OK, hate to hear the truck was damaged but it could have been much worse, we'll say a prayer for Rosa cause if she has put up with you for 35 yrs she has got to be a saint,ha. Hope you and Rosa have many more yrs together, be safe and let her drive next time, hope to see you soon, Garry and Linda

I'm glad to hear everyone is alright too, but had to wonder why it was only your wife's 35th anniversary. Sure hope she don't read what's printed on here as you might get the look, lol.

Saddest story I heard in this regard happened up north of me in the Four Corners area. A guy from somewhere in the Midwest, who had worked like 40 yrs in some dreary factory job, finally retired and was living his dream, a motor tour of the West. He stopped along the 4-lane divided highway east of the Shiprock, one of those tall mesa's they always show for Monument Valley (pretty impressive). He's standing there on the shoulder taking a pic when a semi going the other way, and across a tall jersey barrier, loses its spare tire that's hung under the trailer. The tire rolls, hits the jerseys, and shoots up in the air, goes over two lanes, and comes down right on top of this poor schmuck, squashes him flat. There was nothing else at all along several miles of the road. His retirement lasted two weeks. Good reminder to enjoy every day!
