Powerstroke Oil Pressure

Powerstroke Oil Pressure
I intend to put a analog guage on my overpriced engine but on the stock Ford guage the oil pressure remains right on the low upright on the far left of the scale. I probably should have replaced the oil pump as most engine kits contain one. Is it a job that can be done with the engine in the truck or do you have to pull the engine??? I'm afraid I can't get the local specialist to work for me again after I refused to be fleeced so I may have to do it myself or hire some northerner. I don't know why I put powerstroke, it's an IDI engine. Brain fart of the 3rd. degree.

According to Ford, at idle, those trucks can have as little as 5-15lbs pressure, and be fine. Get a manual oil pressure tester, and see what you actually have, before condemning anything. I do believe the oil pan can come off of those in the truck. Always do a mechanical test first though. Also, Ford is notoriou for having really vague gauge readings. Althogh it shows low on the scale, it could actually be in the 40psi range, especially on a truck that's more than 17 years old.
