what are some good places to shoot

I just head out into the local desert, or take a walk to a legal distance from the town I live in. I'm surrounded by National Forest lands and have access to lots of BLM land on the Nevada side of town, so its pretty easy for me.
Come out to my neck of the woods. I'll let ya shoot my M1 Garand.

I didn't see the question asked, but....
There's a host of aftermarket parts for your 10/22, a lot of competitive guys change so many things for better/lighter trigger pull and consistent shooting, that said, I have an older 10/22 that I wouldn't change a thing on it...actuallly bought it at a Gun Show 20+ years ago with the intentions of making it FA....but dang, it's in such nice shape I coldn't see shooting the barrel out of it just for kicks!

You might want to contact "Wild Sports" in Orangevale. They sell a variety of weapons, legally and may know of an appropriate range in the area. I used to know a custom gunsmith (high power military type target stuff), but he has moved to Idaho. I can toss off an email and see if he knows of something. If I remember correctly, there was a high power rifle range somewhere around Rancho Cordova.
Let me know if you want me to ask.

Ok, I'm an idiot. I finally looked up the Ruger 10 22. It's a .22 caliber long rifle. I used to compete using a Savage, but that was a loooong time ago. Any indoor range will do just fine. The targets are pretty tiny tough. You would have 10 targets per page. The bullseye is the diameter of the projectile. The entire target is about 1" in diameter.
It used to be that you'd shoot 30 targets on three sheets. One prone, one kneeling, and one standing. 10 points per bullseye. The best score was 300. I can boast of achieving a 300 score. Sadly, I only did it once. Consistency does not restrict bragging rights.
