maybe the lmc harness is faulty.

does it really improve the lighting system enough to be worth all this trouble?

i am going to look it up in the catalog to read the description.

ok, i just read it.

do you have upgraded lights?

I have the LMC harness and have no issues.

Yes it does improve the lighting, because the lights get full voltage from the battery. Also the headlight switch does not have to carry the load of the lights.

I have a similar setup on my 65 Mustang and it made a huge difference on that application. It is noticable on the F150.

Just get rid of the DRLs. I hate them. They are annoying. They also sometimes make it difficult to see the front turn signal during the day when the sun is in certain positions.

What I'm really hoping is that I could isolate the circuit in the original harness that controls the drl and hook it back up. Unless someone has already told me that isn't possible and I'm just not getting it.
I'll conjure something up for ya, but I'd like to see some factory setup diagrams first, so I know which wire feeds what and where - but yes, isolating things is the right approach.

But looking at the diagrams it's clear that the DRL module is spliced into the high and low curcuit of the headlights so it must get something from those splices other than the ability to power the high beams.
I'm thinking the DRL uses these splices to know when the low beams are on so it shuts the DRLs off. Do you have those diagrams you mentioned, can you post them here for us to see?

Well, I just got back from a couple of days in the city and the lights coming on issue hasn't popped up again since I disconnected the LMC harness. The lights are definately dimmer without it though. If it ever stops raining I'll check over the harness to see if I can see a problem.

A fix to keep the LMC kit would be to get another relay for the DRL
The DRL relay's coil would need to be powered by the DRL feed, and acutated through the other relay(s) NC contact(s). IF they got spare NC contacts. that is.
once any one of the other relays are energized the contact would open and cut the power to your DRL

I'm assuming that this LMC kit has 2 relays, one for high, one for low?
