56 F-100. What color?
I have finally got the motivation to restore my truck but I am at my wits end with trying to find stock color schemes. I know the stock colors for 1956 but I cannot find any information on what colors were used on the standard body. (original was red) I thought I had seen an old ford brochure that listed two tone and certain paints for the custom body only. Now I cannot find anything about it.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
<o></o>
I want to keep the body as stock as possible but I am undecided on the color. I would hate to pick a color then find that it was not standard for a 56.<o></o>

I am a stock 56 guy also, and understand your problem.
The correct red is common and alot of guys keep it. I think you may want to keep the dtock color to your truck,or a colonial white roof for accent.
Earls world is a good start.
Mine are raven black, and meadow green and colonial white ,and sure you can find a great choice once you look at a paint stores books.

Your local automotive paint store should be able to help you with picking a stock 56 color. But because government regulations have forced paint manufacturers to stop making some of the old style paints, some of the colors are lost. I know PPG has been really good, with the more popular colors, in recreating formulas in the newer paints. Still, if you find the right distributor, they will be willing to ensure an excellent match with custom mixing.
You can try this link for color chip information. Unfortunately, they don't show a listing for a 56 page, but they have a 51 and a 57. That should get you very close to what was available in 56, as many of the colors were used for many years. But definitely check with a local paint supplier. Try to find one who's been in business forever. They'll have the oldest records.
