Research is only as good as the source apparently. Excursion specs came off of here, Ford wheels were between two different local dealerships. Sorry for the misinformation bud, it's what I was told and apparently it was wrong. I also have no way of measuring stock since I don't have em. Personally I would've just done that to begin with but that's just me.
As for the linked reference with the SD manual and specs, where are you seeing the nominal inset? I looked over it and couldn't find that listed anywhere. Not arguing, just curious since I'm clearly missing it.
And everyone knows I'm Krazee, if that's what did it for you you'll be in for a treat when a certain somebody pushes buttons lol.
And just to be a dick, you put way to much time into decorating your posts with colors and bolding

To quote a prior post: , page 51 of the 2009 Ford F25-F450 Trucks specifications PDF linked above lists the wheels on 2009 Fords. I'm not sure I would even trust it, as the 2002 Excursion manual lists 25mm Offset for the 2002 16x7k wheels, when they measure out 9.5mm, so even Ford docs (and certainly the dealer you and I both called) can't be relied on.
At least we both seem to agree on the 1st part of your last paragraph
Cheers...

That'd explain it then, for some reason the PDF doesn't load past page 12 on both the phone and the iPad - I don't have an actual computer nor a laptop. It's interesting in a frustrating sort of way that the specs Ford listed for the Excursion plus what we both got from dealers aren't anywhere near close, especially with what you came up with firsthand.
I'm always a bit of a dick, also known by most here in the X forum. But I do know when I'm wrong and it's time to apologize, hah.

I have, they are 20 inches by 8 inches wide. That is about as close as you'll get Seriously though, no idea.

To bring this back to the spacer issue, for science, I called and ordered some 2 inchers from wheeladapter.com today. I talked to Nancy, she was way cool and very helpful. I bought some 2015 F-250 18" wheels and tires with 700 miles on them earlier this week. Got them mounted up and realized rather quickly that they just don't work. Thank God this post was on the front page and I got it figured out.
PS If you want measurements off the 18s let me know.

I'd love to get the backspacing on the new (2005-2014) 20" Form OEM Polished Chrome Wheels
Per Ford documents, these newer Ford OEM 20 wheels have a 40mm (1.57") 'Nominal Inset' (ref: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...78677474,d.eXY) which calculate to a 6.075" BackSpace.
My 2002 Excursion 16x7 OEM wheels measure out exactly 4.375" backspacing, so it looks like the new wheels have 1.7" more backspace (closer to the center of the truck).
Backspace is measured with a flat edge across the back of the aluminum rim (21" or so) to the mounting surface:
