1951-52 Air Deflector Holes
Ok, I imagine someone asks this often but I couldn't find it searching so here we go again.
What are the angled oval shaped holes/knockouts for in the air deflector? They are visible between the grill tooth and headlight bucket. I'm about to weld mine up but can't figure out why they are there.

I believe If you mean the one in the center it's to remove if you have the original engine . Place a crank handle in and hand crank the engine to start it. Lots of fun and lots of danger , if you leave the truck in gear it can run over you . If you are talking about something else , then you need somebody else to tell you .

The hole Jim is talking about is the "racetrack" shaped hole in the lower valance and was in fact for hand cranking! Just in front of the center tooth in the pic below.
The Fresh Aire Heater duct on the passenger side up in the fender, bolted to the lower lip of the front fender about an inch to the right of where the fender bolted to the upper valance just on top of and in front of the wind deflector and over the headlight bucket on the grille.
The punch out holes in the wind deflectors (behind the headlights) were for planned wiring access if the parts had been continued. They are almost impossible to see in this pic, but they are there.
Chances are your headlight wires are inside the grille and come out into the engine compartment between the grille and the wind deflector. Irregardless, youdon't need any of them - go ahead and weld them up.

I was talking about the ones in the air deflector (one on both sides). Planned wiring access huh. Strange.
Thanks for the other info, I actualy had a '51 part truck with the fresh air vent and figured the one in the valence was for a crank. I've started a tractor with a hand crank, really cool.
Thanks
