recommended shifting speeds

94 f150 I6 manual 4 speed with OD, i didnt have a owners manual when i bought my truck so i had to find a lot of the information on it myself, my question is in the owners manual what is the recommended shifting speeds for my truck? i dont have a tachometer so i cant see what my RPMs are at. and i do remember seeing an old ford manual that had "recomended shifting speeds" for trucks without tachs. sorry if this sounds dumb but i think i have been shifting at to low of RPMs and its messing my transmision up.

I don't know off hand, but isn't there a yellow shift light that pops on, on thoes pickups when u should shift? Also u don't have to worry about messing up the trans, it doesn't care when u shift, its the motor that cares. Too early n u lug it, to late over rev.

what id do is just rev the crap out of it till it redlines, recognize that sound and try to determine 3000 rpm out of 6000 then use that for shifting.

Chevy 6.2D is starting off with a positive reputation.
With my 300 and 3.08s I shift to-
2nd @ 15 MPH
3rd @ 25 MPH
4th @ 35 MPH
5th @ 45-50MPH

I can easily keep up with traffic and when I did have a tach (before it quit) it was 1800-2000 before shifting.

^ I agree with Chevy. The points he listed were about where I shift when driving my dad's '92.
