The rear sump pan is the normal one used with the MII suspension crossmember. The little hump in the front is for the oil pump, and it fits in front of the crossmember, just above the steering rack. This leaves plenty of room for the main sump behind the crossmember, allowing the engine to be forward enough to have firewall clearance. I think you would be happy with it.

unless you can find someone that has used that pan sucessfully in a MII/460 situation, i wouldn't spend any more money on pans, All the guys that have that combo(460MII) that I know, have used mid-sump pan. Without firewall mods. The notch in the crossmember is really an easy solution.

it will fit... I promise. How close are the rear of the heads to the firewall ???
my heads are 1.5" from the firewall and we did 'releave' the crossmember to make the clearance needed... you might consider raising the block some to give you clearance, but it will probably require some firewall work..
notch in crossmember
head clearance
Sam Detweiler has a running 460 in his '56... he should be along shortly with some more in...

I know my motor (351c) is different than yours but i had the same problem. I cut the MII crossmember like John said. I also had a rear sump pan but it still would not fit. At this point i was not getting anywhere so i just cut my oil pan in the front of the hump to get it to fit. I have looked around for a pan that would fit the measurements i know need and its 600.oo so im just going to weld up my own. I also have to move the pickup back as well, oh well!!! Good luck!!

When you are setting your pan clearance it is necessary to move the engine back as far as possible towards the firewall. I'm thinking that I only have about a 1/2" clearance on the driver side.
Also the more you shift that weight back, the more it will help your handling and give you more clearance for your radiator and fan.

Nordvik72 Ihave a 54, with 460/C6...however, I have Volate FE, engine sits above crossmember with clearance, using mount smilar to one in BB illustration. I use stock Volare p/s, everything aligns. Didn't think I would like big block w/Volare, but works good. Also, f100central on web has extensive list of motor mounts, might check them out if I am soon enough. Lts of luck!
