My 74 single cab f250 highboy rusted like crazy in this area! I blamed it on leaky cab lights. Wish I could find pre-made replacement panels.

Any advice on the cheapest way to fix this? Fiberglass was recommended as a cheap fix.

Cheap? Duct tape...

Would I do it though - NO WAY.

Fiberglass does the same thing - it just sits on top of the rust. People had used fiberglass to patch a hole in the floorboard of my crewcab. All it does is sit on top of the rust - allowing the rust to continue to grow/spread.

Bondo does the same thing as well.

All of the above have been used by previous owners on my crew and ALL of them have lead the rust to be much worse than it should be. I REALLY wish the people would have just had the metal cut out and new stuff welded in.

Cheap was the correct word usage. The repair will be cheap is you use bondo, fiberglass, or duct tape( duct tape) !!!

If it were me... I would find another cab... hell another donor truck...

But if that truck holds enough value to you, find a donor roof, buy a used hood, and grab some inexpensive cab corners.

You have some work ahead of you ... but not impossible!

For the whole cab or the roof? Either way it is going to SUCK and be expensive to ship.

Price also depends on the effort I have to put in as far as getting the thing shipped...

Just the roof, the rest of the cab is mint. Is there any way you could check to see what the shipping would be? Zip code 77375

can't really check shipping without cutting the roof off to get weight and dims of actual shipment and honestly don't feel like putting any effort into it. Every time I've done something like this on here in the past it's ended with the guy on the buying end going "shipping costs too much - forget it" and I've wasted a bunch of time for nothing. If you want to do the legwork feel free and I'll help in any way I can that won't waste a bunch of my time.

thats understandable. Is the rest of the cab good? It would be a shame to cut up a perfectly good cab....but if the rest of it is shot....then im all for it lol

I'm pretty sure the cab is all good, but I'll have to wait til it gets here to tell for 100% sure.

I don't mind cutting up a good cab. As much as people on here talk big and say they want one they sure as heck do not sell when I get them. Cut up the last 3 because I couldn't even get $50 for them around here...

Stargate Fan

Bra'tac, thanks for posting this. My supercab is pretty rust free except for the drip rails. I'll start looking for a donor.

By the way.. My wife & I both loved watching Stargate SG-1! I sure do miss it. Atlantis was ok, Universe is ok too.
