single core radiator

what is the capacity of the radiator, just on the radiator. I drained mine today and only had around 1/2 gallon in it. and was only able to put in 1/2 gallon. is this right or do I have a plugged system? this is on a 4.9 5 speed .

I think the system should hold near two gallons. May have to take the thermostat out or pull the heater hose off of the water pump. And turn the heater full on to get the system to drain.
