I found a turbo off a 99 PSD

Will it work on my 7.3 IDI? the guy only wants $200 for it.

It comes with

up pipe, down pipe, spyder, pedestal and oem boots.

Will I have to have a EGT gauge?

Even though they are both 7.3's they are completely different. There have been a few guys that tried to fab up parts to make the turbo work but it is very difficult and requires a lot of fab work. It is cheaper in the long run to buy a used after market turbo kit. Even they usually require some slight modification to the firewall of the cab. Most people on this forum will tell you not to try it.

The 99 turbo has an exhaust back pressure valve to help with warm up that is oil pressure actuated.

Even worse to try an make work that one from a 94 to 97 Power Stroke.

On one of them, at least you could use the turbo if you made all of the up pipes and connections to the intake which is no small job.

Can't wait till someone asks about installing a variable vane turbo off of a 6.0 Stroke, but I know it is only a matter of time.

Dave, the 94-97 strokes have the back pressure valve on the turbo the 99s on do not.

Well, I will have to run it N/A for awhile then.

What is the stock 0 to 60 on these trucks, like 20-25 seconds?

Thanks for telling me guys, y'all just saved me a lot of grief.

To answer someone elses question all the psd turbos from 94-03 7.3 turbos have the ebpv, but you can gut them out, now if you can do fab work then its not a horrible job, and truthfully it wouldnt actually cost a hole lot, as long as you shop around and find good prices on pipe and everything, i come very close once at having a 01 model psd turbo hooked up on my old idi all i lacked was getting the clamp for the down pipe and getting a working egt gauge and a oil line and i could have found out what it would have been like on an idi, but i found another truck i wanted, and i sold the turbo, and bought the other truck then sold my other truck, right now i have a 95 model psd van turbo that i just bought, and its going on my idi, the 94-97 model turbos are much smaller than the 99 and up turbos and you dont have to do hardly any firewall modification, and yes the pedistal is weird, but i have come up with a way to make a good pedistal for it, if you plan on doing a psd turbo on an idi, i recomend getting every thing all the pipes and the pedistal and everything turbo related, so you can mod what needs to be, and sell the rest that you dont use

All I can tell you is this truck EBV was wired to use the EBV as an engine brake, and it is not a 94 to 97 truck.

1999 7.3 Power Stroke with a six speed tranny

The actuator was a rod from down inside the block that closed the EBV on the back of the turbo.

I don't know much about Strokes, but I did help make the manual conversion on that engine.
I also know there is nothing on an IDI anywhere close to that rod.
