Powerdyne Superchargers

Anyone have any info or opinions about these SCs? I am thinking about getting one for my 5.4 in my truck. It is a centrifical design blower unit that is non-intercooler equipped. It is for the 5.4 F150s.
Thanks ,
Larry

The bd-11a works fine for stock appications as long as it's not overspun with a larger crank pulley or smaller compressor pulley. Keep the applications around 6-7 psi and it'll live for a while.
The XB-1a willl support more power than the bd-11a; it;ll move more air and at lower discharge temps. It's gear driven instead of belt driven like the bd model and it'll withstand as much as 18psi.

I think it is setup with pulley for 9psi boost. You think it will be ok , or should I look for something else?

I wouldn't push it past that. Double check your spark plugs to make sure they're tight since spark plug ejection is a problem with the earlier 5.4's. At that boost pressure, it may be a good idea to run a set of plugs that are one heat range cooler than stock as well

I say, I wouldn't push past 9psi, if it's the bd model. The XB will handle more power and pressure, so 9psi, or more, wont be a problem if the kit is equipped with the XB compressor. I'd also suggest taking advantage of some aftermarket tuning to get the fuel and spark advance under control, before you get too happy with the throttle.

Here's the Vortech for your application. Check out Jegs or Summit to see how much they want for it.

The Vortech is an excellent compressor (I still run one), however, the Paxton NOVI 2000 will move more air for about the same or less, for that make and model.

Vortech also has the new V3 head that's self contained. I was a dealer for Vortech for 4 yrs before coming on board over here.Never had an issue with anything from them. It's good stuff.

Are you saying that Vortech has a V3 kit for a 2000 F-150/5.4?

The V2 and V3 have about the same flow/pressure ratings at the same impeller speeds. However, having a self contained lubrication system is simpler than running feed and return.

For that much money why wouldnt you go with a Scerw type supercharger. They provide better boost and require less HP to make it from what im told. And they can be found in the 4-5k range.

Enlighten me, maybe im wrong.

Not sure if the V3 is offered for that app. The return lines no biggie.Vortech does make a nice product though.
