wtf....t/t package

my expy has the heavy duty trailer tow package. i thought that entailed 4 and 7 pin connectors(check), trans cooler(check), oil cooler(check),and heavy duty radiator(not check). i ran the lookup, and it comes up one radiator for all 03 expeditions. i went to motorcraft.com to see coolant capacity for my 03, and the manual has 5 revisions each with different amounts ranging from 23 qts to 26 qts. how many do i need, and is there a better radiator?

There were many threads on the HD radiator in the 02-03 Expy's. If memory serves, the TT package originally included a double duty (two rows of fins) radiator and switched mid stream (sometime in those years - or earlier). All that I've read so far (and I've been a member of this site and f150online.com since 2001) is that the radiator downgrade is no problem. I currently have an 06 Navi and previously had an 01 Expy (both with TT package) - and live in Phoenix.....and cooling performance is NOT (and has never been) an issue with these great trucks.

In any vehicle i have tinkled with, you actually don't need to know the radiator capacity, just but some coolant, fill it the most you can with the engine off, then turn it on so the fluid is distributed and fill whatever more you need until it's topped. If you plan to flush the rad, just go with the higher number, that way if it's not needed you'll still have some replacement fluid.

When I replaced the radiator in the 2000 I was surprised to see that the replacement one was twice as thick. The end tank size was the same but the core was thicker. This truck has the towing package as well.

the reason i was trying to figure out the qts was because i was adding water wetter, and trying to the correct ratio. i added 2 full bottles.
