Torqueshift flush machine
Does the transmission flushing machine actually heat the fluid during a flush or depend on the transmission to provide the heat?

The machine provides the heat. Be aware that some dealerships have a flush machine but not all are heated flush machines. Make sure you ask which they use.

you must use the heated one so that the torque converter gets flushed as well. I has a thermostat in it.

I thought the thermostat was in the lines going to the transmission cooler.

There is only one thermostat. It's inside the transmission, in the pump body. There is no thermostat in the torque converter.
