My Wrecked (Totaled) F-350

Nov. 2, 2009, I was hit by a BIG tow truck in the passenger side and it rooled me over, crushing my roof. I had to be cut out. The link to the album is below. Looks like I will be moving to a 6.4

ouch.
with that said. I would stay far clear of a 6.4. I had a coice when I got my 06 6.0 and from what I see in the shop its the better option. A new radiator for a 6.4 is $1000 job installed.
They may have less headgasket issues but I have done more short blocks and fuel system rebuilds then I ever thought possible.
We keep 20 front covers in stock for 6.4's thats maybe a 2 week supply.
IMO look for a very clean low hour and low milage 6.0. 06 or 07 years only.

I am replacing her. Insurance totaled it. Engine was running upsidedown. Do not know what damage that did. Was looking at 6.4, but now I may look for a late model 6.0.

Glad you are doing well and you can walk away and talk about it! These trucks are VERY safe in my opinion - especially the crew cabs. I rolled one (2 revolutions) and walked away w/ a small cut to my forehead.

As Cheezit said - I also think a late model 6.0L is well worth considering. You can find some great deals on them ,,,,,, That being said, the new 6.7's do look fantastic!

It must be something in the color. I totaled one the same color. Someone crossed the ceter line and hit me head on at 70mph. My son and I walked away from it and the other person had to be life flighted out. I didn't even get to make the first payment on it. I agree with bismic, they are safe and after that I wouldn't own another truck. Just like cheezit said, my mechanic says the same thing. They have more of the 6.4's in the shop than they do the 6.0's.

Glad you're okay. The pictures hit me as pretty graphic at first, but putting it in perspective, that looks damn good for a roll over.

looks like most of the damage is from the rollover, not from being hit. as far as engine damage if it had lost oil press, it would have shutdown, the worst it should be is a hot shutdown. kind of hard to believe that they needed to take the door off to get you out(volonteer FF with extrication training)but i guess they want to be as cautious as possible handling you after a rollover like this

Hmm i would talk to my insurance company. Shelter ins paid me 18500 on a 97 model powerstroke in 2006. Shot me an offer of 10000 and i told him to fix mine. Then came back with 15000 and i said just fix mine finally settled for 18500. Was satisfied then and bought my 06

I have always got what i want for my equipment from the ins company. I lost a cotton picker last year and they offered me 80000 and i laughed and told the adjuster to fix it then. He then told me it would cost 150000 to fix it. I told him to pay me what it is worth or fix it. Long story short i got 150000 for my picker. You have to negotiate with them to get what it is worth to you. If they say no then tell them to fix it back to pre wreck condition. Plus guarantee it to not cause problems. They will pay you what you want because it is too much of a liability when they have to fix it
