I got my truck about a week ago not running and got it running today and at idle the rpms run around 2000 i was wondering if the problem could be with the fuel pump.

Vacuum leak(s)! The plastic vacuum hoses are a well-known source of leaks due to their aging and tendency to develop cracks. Rusted through metal vacuum reservoirs are also high on the list. Stuck idle control valve is next on the list AFTER every vacuum circuit has been checked and repaired.

Suspect the IAC or a bound throttle cable. The fast idle at start should peak at about 1500 and then quickly fall off. You can kick it down manually with a tap of the accelerator.

Maybe a really massive vacuum leak? I'd pull codes if I were you. fordfuelinjection.com
