Blower motor question

Blower motor question
I have a 6/90 F150 4X4, 5.0, auto with A/C. The blower motor works only on the low setting, barely blows. I disconnected the coupler at the blower motor and direct wired it to the battery and the motor works fine. It works fine on low setting only when connected.
I have read that if it works in the high setting while connected, the resistor is the faulty part, but would the same hold true if the condition is reversed?
Where is the resistor located on this vehicle?
Do you think it is more the fault of switch or resistor?
I appreciate your assistance with this.
