Airaid or K&N

Why pay that much for any of them? I think I spent under $10 to simply enlarge the tube between the filter and the fender from 2" to 3" with a short section of PVC pipe. I think it is called the Gotts intake mod if you do a search.
The only thing those others will gain you is intake honk noise. If they termiante underhood with just an exposed conical filter, you probably just lost performance.
The home mod keeps the paper filter, which is far better than an oiled filter for one thing. It is also plenty large for these trucks needs. It also still takes air from outside the engine compartment, which something like the Volant, AFE or and S&B will do.
Why pay for those though? If the look and the sound is what you seek, have at it. If performance and economy are the goals, leave it stock or do the 3" pipe mod.
