79 f150 explorer stripe help!!!

hello everyone, i'm lookin for the measurements/dimensions of the stripe kit for my 79 so i can have them made by a sign company, any help or pictures would be great, truck is orginally burgdny with orange/creame colored stripes, thanks for your help

Welcome to FTE

There were two variations of Explorer stripes used in 1979.

It depends on whether the truck was assembled at the Michigan Truck Assembly Plant....or not.

There is no orange/cream stripe listed for 1979.

1979 Explorer stripes: Gold/White / or / Tangerine/White.

Rather than going thru the time and expense of have the stripe made by a sign company, have it painted on.

This way...if it's damaged, it will be simple to just repaint it.

If...by chance you find a NOS stripe kit...do NOT buy it!

These stripes came with a paper backing which when peeled off....exposed the adhesive used to install it.

The shelf life of these kits is no more than a couple of years. Warm and cold weather played havoc with stripes.

It didn't take too long for the adhesive to dry out, which means...the backing becomes stuck to the stripe and cannot be peeled off.

hey everyone i checked today and truck has explorer interior emblems and the hood ordement, but has been repainted and stripes where removed, so i have nothing to go off to reproduce them? if anyone has diemensions or measurments or even a good pictiure i can use that would be great, thanks everyone for any help u can give, this is a great forum
