1977 f250 highboy lift w/adjustable drag link!?

Hi,
I just found a lift kit for the highboys that includes the drag link and extended pitman arm to maintain the factory powersteering. Is this kit all that would be needed to maintnain the powersteering and basically a complete lift kit for the highboys? 4" Lift 67-77 F-250 High Boy 4WD System With Replacement Rear Springs - 1967-1977

If so, does anyone have experience with this system, how does it work?

I'm looking into getting a 1977 f250 highboy that i saw for sale and was thinking that it would be nice to fit some 40" groundhawgs on the rig for offroading but still want to keep my powersteering so this kit looks like the ticket. I had saw on many threads that it was said that no one makes the components to keep the powersteering after a lift without extensive modding or swapping to a 78-79 steering box, but this kit looks to say otherwise.

Thanks for the help!
Zach

I see nothing that says it offers any steering components where did you see it saying steering? All I see is front rear springs with add on options I would call the tech line and ask waht mods are required besides the lift kit and if they say the drag link and pitman arm ask how it is incorperated in with the factory steering?

theres a section right below the product title that says "Optional Steering Correction" with a drop down box, with one option being, adjustable drag link and drop pitman arm.

Your drag link or as some say tie rods are adjustable already and your connecting link being the pressure valve assembly the only option this gives is the drop down pitman, Unless your not keeping the factory set up? look here for idea LMC Truck Parts - Page 106

allright, so this would not allow you to keep the standard powersteering with the 4" lift? I would like to be able to keep the factory powersteering while lifting the truck rather than swapping to a 78-79 steering box.

Well check into the drop pitman arm for your truck nothing else should be changed for the factory steering.

make friends with someone who has thier inspection license and get an orbital valve and run full hydraulic steering. im trying to figure out why on earth you would want to keep the ram assist setup. theyre sloppy and leaky for starters. i have NEVER seen a truck without a ton of slop in the assist setup. if your thinking of rebuilding your control valve, thats pretty pricey too. id seriously try and find some way to run full hydro on the thing if for some reason you cant set up a 78-9 box

I'm trying to keep the cost low and pretty simple since i'm only 15. The truck does need a new powersteering assist valve so i was thinking that it may be better to try to build it up. Which would you think would be more cost effient and easier?

Full hydraulic is illegal for a reason. If you blow a line then what? Go head on into a van full of toddlers? You need to have a mechanical hookup for a reason. If you blow a powersteering hose no big deal. Might be hard to steer but you still have the truck under control. Rigging stuff up and blatently disregaurding the law is the reason people with lifted trucks have such a hard time getting them legal.

Ok so apparently some small minded people dont understand that the truck in this signature is a combination of many sarcasims. Please quit being stupid and study up before you run your mouth about it.

Lose the ram assist. I will be cheaper in the long run to change to a crossover and it will work way better, especially with big tires. My ram setup sucked with 33s but my custom setup steers 38s with one finger. Do a search in this forum for crossover steering and look for posts by 75F350. You can also look at my gallery for pics of how I did it many years ago. The next one I do will have crossover though.

If at all possible, go with the cross-over steering set up. I recently spent the money on the drop pitman arm and drop drag link through Sky Jacker and wish I would have done the right thing and done the cross-over. I went with a 6" - which is the same as your 4", the power steering setup is obviously different. The angles are still not great with the drop pitman/drag link and I foresee issues down the road with the setup. Save your money and do the crossover.
