Hi, I have a 1984 F150, 4.9, 4 speed. It is my no frills truck that I use for going to the coast and grabbing supplies for the home. I found this forum from Google. I will be looking to add some performance mods. Since I am getting less than 15 mpg, I might as well have some enjoy it. My biggest problem is being in Smogifornia, so I know I will have to keep the mods light. Anyway, I look forward to the posts and hope to help out, also.

Welcome to the forum. Your first project needs to be studying emssions devices, and what they do. Most people including me do not like working on something they don't understand. But since you need to keep all the emssions on your truck, I would learn as much as I could on everything that is on the engine. None of that stuff will hurt the performance of the engine if it's working correctly.

Here's a good site that list the abbreviations found on your emissions diagram, and has some explanations of what they do.
