My free 56 F 100

I thought I would share the 56 f 100 I picked up. I got this free for the taking just by hauling it out of someones yard. I didnt rteally need another project but I couldnt pass it up. I am in the middle of a frame off resto on a 70 swb c 10. This is a long bed with a 272 V8 and a fordomatic trans. It seems like a a pretty unique factory equipped truck in its day. I didnt think many farmers paid for an auto back then. Overall for the year its in pretty decent shape. Pretty much everything is in tact. It was suppose to run but it has been sitting quite a few years. The motor was locked up but after a week of dumping diesel and marvel mystery oil down the cylinders I got it free. So next step it to get some fresh fuel in it and try to get it running. There are pics in an album in my gallery I didnt have a manage attachments link on this post. Enjoy

If it's a long bed wouldn't it be a 250, don't know much about the 53 and newer/

My understanding is that the long beds where standard on f250s, but optional on F100s, I can't make it out on the VIN, if it's F10 it's an F100, if it's F25, it's an F-250

The long bed was avalable for the first time on the F100 in 1956.

Sorry I cant take you up on your offers, this is the best freebee I have ever come across oh it did cost me about $20 in fuel. lol

Update, I got it running today. It smoked like crazy for the first 5 minutes but cleaned out pretty good after that. Its still on my trailer because I plan on pressure washing it this week with a steam cleaner. I couldnt get the fuel pump to prime so I ran it off of a gravity feed tank. I am amazed it started and actually runs pretty good. The trans also goes into D and R, the heater, wipers and lights work too. I slapped on the running boards as they were laying in the bed when I got it. The pic with the black 20's on it were a test fit they are acutally off of my 04 dodge and they fit like a glove. Looks like the Dodge will get new wheels and the Ford will get the hand me downs.

Might be a bit out of his way. His profile says he's in AL, so I don't think he'll be making many of the MN chapter meetings.

Why did the PO want to give it away? A project he lost interest in? Post the VIN # and someone here will translate it for you. Did you get a title or at least a bill of sale? Best find out from your state DMV right away what you'll need to register it. Real bummer to find out after you put a couple years work and money into it that you can't register it because you don't have some document you need when it would be easy to get all your ducks in a row now before the guy moves away, dies, forgets who you are, or decides you stole his truck.
