Why did the PO want to give it away? A project he lost interest in? Post the VIN # and someone here will translate it for you. Did you get a title or at least a bill of sale? Best find out from your state DMV right away what you'll need to register it. Real bummer to find out after you put a couple years work and money into it that you can't register it because you don't have some document you need when it would be easy to get all your ducks in a row now before the guy moves away, dies, forgets who you are, or decides you stole his truck.
I'm in MN I must not have changed the last profile AL must be the first default. The PO had intentions but didnt move foward and was just cleaning out the yard. Title is squared away and in MN you can license a lay z boy chair so that is the least of my concern.

Well, I still think you should of tried to talk him down a little---I mean, with this economy it is a buyer's market...

Congratulations!...Great find...I have a '54 with a Ford-o-matic---I'll be curious to see how yours runs out if it's been sitting for any length of time...

LUCK= When opportunity and preparedness meet. That is a cool find. My first F100 was a '56 F100 long bed. Same brown/gold color as this one. No rear bumper,no radio, no headliner, 223 and 3 on the tree, and no heater. It had a factory heater delete panel. Wish I still had that part. you don't see that very often. Sure sucked when the weather cooled off! NO DEFROST! I drove the crap out of that truck!
